Thinking About Generational Learning and Teaching Challenges

Much has been written and discussed about intergenerational differences and the challenges it poses to teaching in higher education. This session will examine the forces that affect our interactions with our current students and will address these questions:

  • What effect has the pandemic had on Intergenerational differences?
  • What might we need to change in our approach to teaching?
  • How can we as educators use the latest information on Generation Z to encourage student success?"

Lydia Mong (M.A. Education) is a senior instructional designer in the WVU Teaching and Learning Commons. She has been designing instructional content in both face-to-face and online environments many years. Her role at WVU involves assisting faculty with online course design and development. She also teaches Readability in Online Courses for graduate teaching assistant students. Lydia is a VoiceThread Certified Educator, Quality Matters Peer Reviewer and has earned the credential for Effective Teaching Practices with the American College & University Educators (ACUE).
