Christina is a graduate student in the Educational Theory and Practice Ph.D. program in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction/Literacy Studies (C&I/LS) in the College of Education & Human Services (CEHS). Christina’s research focus is to determine how literacy coaches engage in coaching and leadership for schoolwide literacy improvement in West Virginia. She currently holds a graduate assistantship with the Mountaineer Mathematics Master Teachers (M3T) program, which focuses on supporting and championing collaborative, teacher-led improvement of mathematics teaching and learning across West Virginia.
Christina previously earned two master’s degrees in Elementary Education and Literacy Education from WVU. She also spent six years working as a third-grade teaching and Title I Reading Specialist in WV before returning to WVU to pursue her doctorate degree. Recently, Christina earned a Graduate Certificate in Leadership, which has complemented the work of her doctoral studies.
Christina is a recipient of both the Hazel Ruby McQuain Graduate Scholarship and the William Joseph Sturgis Endowment Scholarship, which have provided immense support to her throughout her graduate journey. She is also a past recipient the WVU Faculty Digital Learning Award and the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Course Development Grant for her use of online tools and her implementation of UDL principles in the development of online courses.
